VINTAGE SELMER CIGAR CUTTER

"SSS"ALTO SAXOPHONE

This  is a vintage Selmer Cigar Cutter alto sax in a Silver plate finish, serial number 15861. This famous  horn was made in 1932, and for it’s age looks brilliant. Well over 95% of the original silver plating remaining, and looks stunning.Just one tiny ding above the sling ring at the back

The engraving on this Horn is  in quite remarkable condition , as  can be seen in the pictures. See also the SSS marking “Selmer Super Sax” at the bottom .The engraving is also showing the original Selmer London as the British agent  - Address 12 Moor street at the time.

I played on a Cigar Cutter alto for 10 years during the 60/70s and I must say I really mist the Horn when I changed to a Selmer Super Action. It gave a great matrured sound for me, in both Big Band Section work and Jazz

This particular Sax plays very well, has a great action  and a rich velvety and flexible sound with plenty of power.

It has been stripped , reset up and tested  on our workshops.

Comes complete with case
